Composting - Session One

Today Simon Calcinai from KCDC spoke to us about composting and what sort of material can go in one.  We talked about 'Nitrogens' = Wet and 'Carbons' = Dry
Eg:   Some examples of Nitrogens are - Apple, Sandwich, food scraps, plums, grass, manure
Some examples of Carbons are - Sawdust, newspaper, ash, egg shells, hay
We also talked about waste that we shouldn't put in our compost.  For example, meats, plastic, cans, dog poo!
We also talked about Therma and Verma composts.  Verma are our Worm farms where the worms do all the work.  Therma composts are the composts that need sun and water to get all the bacteria breaking the matter down.
